Monica was representing Norfolk county in the Aegon 18U County Championship 2016 last week at Easton Tennis Centre. Durham & Cleveland, Leicestershire, Gloucestershire and Norfolk counties have competed. Even though Monica is just 13, due to her tennis strength, she was promoted to number 2 to compete. Each day Monica played one single and one doubles match. Monica competed with girls 4 years above her age in all singles! Monica has used all her experience and high quality tournament skills to win all 3 singles and 3 doubles matches. Particularly, today (Sunday) Norfolk girls have played against strong Gloucestershire team to get promoted. Monica played against 17 year old strong Gloucestershire girl. Monica was on fire and determined to take the match to her credit. She won in two straight sets 6-4 and 6-2. And in the crucial doubles match, she paired with Talitha Rowan another Norfolk girl. It was a decider to claim the championship and a promotion to the next division. Both of them have competed very strongly and they took the match to the 3rd set tie breaker. In the high pressured match, Monica was serving strong and kept her nerves under the control to win the championship point. Score 6-3, 1-6 & 12-10. Finally Norfolk was promoted to Division 3.
